Job Summary:
As a Safety Officer at Mellors Group, you will play a vital role in promoting a culture of health and safety across all company sites, events, and operations. You will ensure full compliance with current legislation and company standards, conduct inspections and risk assessments, and advise staff and contractors on safe practices.

Key Responsibilities:
- Ensure compliance with health and safety legislation and Mellors Group safety policies.
- Conduct regular site inspections, audits, and risk assessments.
- Identify potential hazards and implement corrective actions or strategies.
- Support event planning teams with safety plans, crowd control assessments, and emergency procedures.
- Deliver or coordinate health and safety training.
- Investigate accidents, incidents, and near-misses.
- Maintain accurate records of safety checks, equipment maintenance, training, and incident reports.
- Liaise with local authorities, emergency services, and regulatory bodies.
- Undertake routine fire safety inspections and ensure fire safety arrangements.
- Assist in the preparation and review of safety documentation including RAMS (Risk Assessment & Method Statements), SOPs (Standard Operating Procedures), and COSHH assessments.
Qualifications and Experience:
Preferred:
- NEBOSH General Certificate in Occupational Health & Safety (or equivalent).
- NEBOSH Certificate in Fire Safety.
- Experience in an events, entertainment, theme park, or leisure industry setting.
- First Aid and Fire Marshal certification.
- Working knowledge of UK H&S legislation, including LOLER, PUWER, and RIDDOR.
- Working knowledge of HSG 175, BS 13814 or willingness to learn.
- Strong observational, reporting, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to remain calm under pressure and respond effectively in emergencies.
- Willingness to travel to multiple sites and work flexible hours, including weekends and public holidays as required to suit the business need.
