Excellent opportunity for a January start for a site-based Site Agent working for a very good main contractor in the Portsmouth region.
Key responsibilities of the Site Agent include:
- Interpreting engineering drawings and specifications and ensuring the accurate construction of the works.
- Liaising with the site manager and foreman as to what engineering is needed onsite and holding daily engineering briefings with the onsite engineers.
- Providing sufficient and accurate information to the Works Management and Foremen.
- Ensuring company procedures and systems on quality, health & safety and the environment.
- Preparing quality, environmental and H&S construction plans.
- Planning, measuring, monitoring and reviewing the progress of contracts throughout the project’s lifespan and ensuring compliance with project’s budgets and programme.
- Ensuring the timely procurement and payment of suppliers and subcontractors.
- Preparing and submitting weekly reports on progress for review.
- Identifying potential problem areas, and financial impact.
- Actively resolve contractual issues with both clients and suppliers.
- Ensuring timely submission of the necessary documentation for inclusion within the project health and safety file.
Ideal requirements for the Site Agent:
- Degree or HND in Civil Engineering.
- Demonstrable experience of working as a Site Agent within the civil engineering construction industry preferably on large earthworks projects.
- Experience in Design & Build Contracts.
- Understanding and experience in NEC4 Contracts.
- Strong computer literacy and good working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
- Good commercial awareness with effective influencing and negotiating skills.
- Experience of managing and mentoring engineers.
- Excellent knowledge of current civil engineering legislation as well as Health & Safety and Environmental legislation.
- Highly developed professional communication and negotiation skills.
- The ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
- The ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions.
- Demonstrable ability to work well under pressure and to tight deadlines supported by strong organisational skills.
- Excellent communicator, both written and oral.
