Melbreck are working with this leading designer and manufacturer of special purpose electronic equipment based in the Northwest in Lancaster.

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Electronic Design Engineer to join their engineering team in Lancaster.

This is a hands-on technical role focused on the end-to-end design of robust, manufacturable electronic systems, from concept and schematic design through to PCB layout and production support.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and develop DC power supply systems, including multi-rail architectures, protection, monitoring, and efficiency optimisation.
  • Design and implement communication bus interfaces including Ethernet, USB, I2C, and Serial (UART, SPI).
  • Develop microprocessor-based control circuits using Microchip PICs, RP2040, and STM32.
  • Produce high-quality schematics and PCB layouts with strong focus on signal integrity, power integrity, and EMI/EMC.
  • Support Design for Manufacturability (DFM), Design for Assembly (DFA), and Design for Test (DFT).
  • Work closely with manufacturing partners and support prototype bring-up and production.

Required Skills & Experience:

  • Strong experience in DC power supply design.
  • Proven experience with Ethernet, USB, I2C, and Serial interfaces.
  • Experience designing microprocessor control circuits using PIC, RP2040, and STM32.
  • Excellent PCB layout skills with a focus on manufacturable designs.

Preferred Skills:

  • Pick and Place file generation and SMT assembly knowledge.
  • RF design experience including power amplifiers, RF switching, and filtering.
