Melbreck Technical are working with a leading designer and manufacturer of special-purpose electro-mechanical and electronic equipment based near Maidenhead. Due to a planned expansion, and succession planning for the next two to three years, they are actively looking for a Contract Buyer to join the organisation as soon as possible. This role comes with excellent career prospects as it is a critical position within the business’s growth strategy.
Job Role:
- To ensure the effective procurement of materials, components, major work packages and services for the Business.
- To manage end to end supply of parts for nominated commodities, ensuring that the relevant commodity strategy is deployed.
- Ensure effective supplier management.
- To ensure competitive sourcing for all products and/or services with the objective of delivering year on year savings.
- Identify and highlight any areas for cost savings across the function through process improvements or otherwise.
Role Responsibilities:
- Manage the end-to-end supply chain relationship with a specified group of vendors so as to ensure the best possible quality, cost, delivery and overall supplier reliability.
- Negotiate and issue purchase orders directed by purchase requisition from planner or MRP action message and in accordance with planned inventory strategies.
- Review MRP requirements to ensure component deliveries are scheduled in line with production requirements; reviewing and issuing purchase orders and making necessary changes to requirements, schedule and price.
- Analyse and process supplier notifications.
- Manage the communication of and expedition of all engineering changes and schedule changes.
- Be the data owner for all supply master data.
- Monitor the delivery status of scheduled receipts to ensure on time delivery to need.
Candidate Requirements:
- 3 to 5 years of experience working in a supply chain organisation.
- Previous experience as a buyer within a manufacturing / engineering company is an advantage.
- Level 4 or Level 5 NVQ or a degree in business, operations, supply chain, or a related field.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills and computer skills, being proficient in Microsoft Office software packages (Word, Excel, Powerpoint etc).
- Demonstrable analytical, problem-solving, organizational, and time-management skills.
- Exposure of working in a manufacturing environment is desirable.
