Melbreck Technical are working with a leading designer and manufacturer in the Aerospace sector. Due to continued growth, they are expanding their technical capability and as such are looking for an Electronics R&D Engineer to join them on a permanent basis ASAP.

The role will be to join a cutting-edge Research & Development team, where you will be supporting projects that have a significant commercial and technical importance. This is a full-time position based in Bristol, UK office, where you will join a small team of R&D engineers working on new technology developments.

Your role will be crucial in the business as you will be directly responsible for developing low-power electronics designs to support our novel technology developments. You will play a key part in the development of novel technologies and system solutions, covering concept to prototype, as well as attend and lead regular team meetings to review progress against project goals and budgets.

Role description:
  • Develop electronics designs for sensors and other equipment of an aircraft.
  • Develop and test prototypes of electronic circuits.
  • Analyse circuit designs for compliance against relevant industrial and aerospace standards.
  • Work with mechanical and software engineers to integrate electronics and circuit designs with other components and the wider system.
  • Work with suppliers to integrate electronics designs into their equipment.
  • Work with customers to integrate equipment into test rigs.
Required background and experience:
  • Degree in Electrical/Electronics Engineering is preferred, but Aerospace Engineering, or other relevant technical or scientific subject would be considered.
  • Between 5 and 10 years’ experience in design of electronics for aerospace applications.
  • Detailed knowledge of ATEX and related regulations, including BS EN IEC 60079, AC 25.981-1D.
  • Programming of embedded microprocessors.
  • Demonstrated ability to solve complex problems and conduct investigations.
  • Proficiency in technical report writing and presentations.
Desirable experience:
  • Previous experience with sensor design and sensor networks.
  • Knowledge of specific Aerospace standards, ARP4754, ARP4761 and ARINC611.
  • Experience of a wide range of testing, ranging from bench and lab tests, through to large scale ground and flight testing.
Required characteristics:
  • A desire to learn new skills, to grow, or to become a Chartered Engineer.
  • Ability to work within a geographically diverse team using remote tools (e.g. video conferencing).
  • Ability to travel within the UK, to the US, and to Europe to support the projects, customers, and suppliers.
