Melbreck Technical is working with one of the UK’s leading machine refurbishment and retrofit specialists. They provide a range of services around special purpose machinery and machine tooling including re-engineering, re-manufacture and retrofit to a wide range of industries across the world. This is a small business and team, and they are looking for a design engineer to join them.
Role Overview:
- Creating final assembly, machine drawings and modifying and improving existing design using Autodesk Inventor.
- Ensuring designs are safe to build and cost effective.
- Providing technical support to the shopfloor and site installation teams.
- Running your own projects with minimal supervision.
- Generating parts lists / BOMs.
- Liaising with customers, suppliers and internal departments to ensure information is free and flowing.
Candidate Requirements:
- Using 3D software (Inventor or similar) to draw component details, assemblies and machine parts for manufacturing.
- Understanding of special purpose machinery.
- Experience of designing machine tooling (CNC Machine tools) or similar.
- Reading and understanding 2D drawings.
- Knowledge of machinery design.
- Managing projects from initial concept to completion.
- Liaising with shopfloor fitting staff.
- Any knowledge and experience of shopfloor working and manufacturing processes would be beneficial, as would any knowledge of hydraulics, pneumatics and any electrical knowledge.
Please note that this role does involve working on projects with customers in the defence and aerospace industries, and as such will require the person in the role to gain security clearance. As such, please only apply if you are a UK National.
