Melbreck are working with a global leader in the design and manufacture of highly specialised aerospace systems. With over 80 years of engineering excellence, they continue to invest heavily in research and development to create the next generation of aviation technology. As part of their continued growth, they are looking for an ambitious Graduate Systems Engineer to join their expanding R&D team. This is an exceptional opportunity for an Aerospace Engineering graduate who is passionate about systems engineering and wants to build a career developing safety-critical aerospace technologies that will shape the future of flight.

You'll work alongside experienced Systems Engineers and technical specialists, receiving structured mentoring and training while developing your knowledge of the complete systems engineering life cycle. From capturing requirements through to system validation and safety analysis, you'll gain exposure to every stage of product development in a collaborative and innovative environment.

What You'll Be Doing

As a Graduate Systems Engineer, you'll support the development of advanced aerospace systems, ensuring they meet both customer requirements and the highest safety and regulatory standards. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Supporting the development of system and sub-system requirements and specifications.
  • Assisting with systems engineering activities throughout the product lifecycle.
  • Learning how to perform system safety assessments, including Functional Hazard Assessments (FHA), Preliminary System Safety Assessments (PSSA) and System Safety Assessments (SSA).
  • Supporting requirements capture, verification and validation activities.
  • Assisting with modelling and analysis of complex engineering systems.
  • Contributing to design reviews and technical documentation.
  • Working with multidisciplinary engineering teams including electronics, software, mechanical and test engineers.
  • Learning industry-standard safety processes including ARP4754 and ARP4761 from experienced engineers.
  • Helping develop innovative solutions for future aerospace applications.

What We're Looking For

We're looking for someone who is curious, analytical and enjoys understanding how complex systems work. Ideally you'll have:

  • A degree in Aerospace Engineering (or a closely related engineering discipline).
  • A genuine passion for systems engineering and safety-critical technology.
  • An understanding of aerospace engineering principles gained through your degree, university projects or placements.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication skills and the confidence to work within multidisciplinary teams.
  • An interest in requirements management, systems integration and engineering processes.
  • Experience using engineering tools such as MATLAB, Simulink, CAD or similar would be beneficial, but isn't essential.
  • Placement year, internship or university project experience within aerospace, defence, automotive or another engineering environment would be advantageous.

Above all, we're looking for enthusiastic graduates with a willingness to learn. Full training and ongoing professional development will be provided.
