Area Manager

A leading not‑for‑profit care provider in the Southwest is seeking an Area Manager to oversee a portfolio of residential and community services. This is a rare opportunity to influence strategy, elevate care standards, and lead talented Registered Managers across a diverse region.

The remit

  • A portfolio of up to eight services across residential and community care
  • Registered Managers and senior teams—coaching, developing and inspiring them to excel
  • Quality, compliance and regulatory outcomes across your area
  • Operational performance, budget oversight and commercial sustainability
  • Collaboration across HR, Finance, Quality, and New Business teams
  • Local authority, NHS, commissioning and community partnerships
  • Innovation in care delivery, digital transformation and workforce wellbeing

Key Priorities

  • Achieving Good/Outstanding regulatory ratings
  • Driving continuous improvement, safety and strong governance
  • Strengthening commissioner relationships and supporting new business opportunities
  • Enhancing occupancy, financial performance and service efficiency
  • Building a learning culture where colleagues feel valued, supported and engaged

Person Specification

  • A track record of delivering compliance and successful inspection outcomes
  • Exceptional people leadership, coaching and communication skills
  • Strong commercial understanding and confidence with budgets and performance metrics
  • Ability to build trusted relationships—with staff, families, commissioners and regulators
  • A data‑informed, solutions‑focused approach to service improvement
  • Passion for person‑centred care and for developing high‑performing teams
  • A Level 5 leadership qualification and experience in change management or acquisitions are desirable
