Your mission
We are offering an exciting opportunity to join Meira GTx Ltd as a Facilities & Maintenance Engineering Apprentice within our Engineering team. This is a structured “earn while you learn” programme combining hands‑on experience maintaining critical equipment and facilities with a fully funded engineering qualification. You will support the reliability and performance of site infrastructure—including utilities, building services, and manufacturing equipment—while developing the technical and professional skills required for a long‑term engineering career. This is an Engineering Maintenance Technician (Level 3) apprenticeship with the course materials being taught at Newham College.
Job Description
What You’ll Be Doing
- Supporting planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and calibration activities.
- Assisting with maintenance and fault troubleshooting/response to ensure equipment and utilities remain operational.
- Using a Computerised Maintenance Management System (CMMS) to manage tasks.
- Maintaining critical spare parts and engineering inventory.
- Supporting contractors on‑site, including safety and permit compliance.
- Contributing to engineering projects.
- Working to high standards of safety, quality, and compliance.

Essential Requirements
- Minimum of 5 GCSEs (or equivalent) including Maths, English, and a Science subject.
- 96 UCAS points including A-levels (or equivalent) in a STEM‑related subject (e.g., Biology, Chemistry, Engineering, or Physics), or completion of a relevant Level 3 qualification (e.g., BTEC in Engineering or Applied Science).
- Eligible to undertake the Science Industry Process Plant Engineer (SIPPE) Level 6 Apprenticeship.
- Interest in engineering, manufacturing, and process improvement.
- Strong communication, organisation, and time management skills.
- High attention to detail and ability to follow technical procedures accurately.
- Basic IT proficiency, including Microsoft Office.
- Team‑oriented with the ability to collaborate across functions.
- Proactive, motivated, and committed to continuous learning and development.
