Based in Witney, Oxfordshire, MEICA Technical Services (MTS) Ltd is a specialist engineering contractor delivering Mechanical, Electrical, Instrumentation, Control and Automation (MEICA) solutions across the water, utilities and energy sectors. Our core expertise lies within the UK water industry, delivering installation, commissioning and maintenance of electrical and ICA systems for water and wastewater treatment facilities.
As an Electrical Supervisor, you will lead electrical installation activities on industrial projects, working closely with the Managing Director, Operations Director and Contract Managers. The role requires a proactive supervisor with strong industrial electrical experience and, ideally, with some knowledge of Instrumentation, Control and Automation (ICA) within the water industry. You will supervise site teams, coordinate subcontractors, manage permits, ensure compliance with health and safety requirements and deliver projects to the highest standards. Projects are based throughout the UK and occasional working away from home is required.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise electrical installation, testing and commissioning activities.
- Lead and support electricians and subcontractors on site.
- Coordinate installation activities.
- Read and interpret electrical drawings, schematics and cable schedules.
- Ensure drawings are red-lined and updated.
- Scope new works and order materials.
- Issue and control permit-to-work documentation.
- Review RAMS and ensure compliance with H&S.
- Liaise with clients, Principal Contractors and commissioning engineers.
- Support commissioning and fault finding of electrical and ICA systems.
- Maintain progress reporting and quality standards.
Essential Skills & Qualifications
- 5 years+ Proven experience as an Electrical Supervisor on industrial electrical projects.
- Previous experience within the UK water industry or similar heavy industrial environment.
- NVQ Level 3 / City & Guilds Electrical Installation.
- 18th Edition Wiring Regulations.
- 2391 / 2394 & 2395 Inspection & Testing.
- Strong knowledge of BS7671 and Electricity at Work Regulations.
- Experience supervising industrial electrical teams and permit systems.
- Ability to read electrical schematics, control panel drawings and wiring diagrams.
- Strong organisational, communication and leadership skills.
- Full UK driving licence.
- CSCS/ECS Card and SSSTS.
Highly Desirable
- Electrical, Instrumentation, Control & Automation (EICA) experience.
- Experience with PLC I/O wiring, MCCs, control panels and marshalling cabinets.
- Knowledge of SCADA, telemetry and industrial communications.
- Experience with flow, level, pressure and analytical instrumentation.
- SMSTS, EUSR Water Hygiene, IPAF, PASMA and First Aid at Work.
What We Offer
- Full-time permanent position.
- JIB rates paid at a minimum or dependent on experience.
- 40-hour basic week plus travel (travel paid door to door – on a flat rate. Travel approx. 7-10 hours per week job dependent).
- Overtime paid and enhanced working away rates.
- 28 days holiday (including bank holidays) increasing to 33 after 5 years.
