Team Leader - Manufacturing and Production
Location: Plymouth, UK (on-site)
Salary: Β£36,500 per annum
Employment Type: Permanent
Hours: Full Time - 37.5 hours / split shifts 06:00-14:00 / 14:00-22:00
Our client, a well-established manufacturing business in Plymouth, is seeking a Team Leader to support their production operations. This role involves leading a team of Manufacturing Operators to meet production targets while maintaining high standards of safety and quality.
The Role:
- Lead, support, and develop a team of Manufacturing Operators to achieve daily production and performance targets.
- Drive performance in line with key business metrics including Safety, Quality, Cost, Delivery, and People.
- Promote a zero-accident culture by proactively identifying safety hazards and ensuring company policies are followed.
- Ensure high standards of quality are achieved in line with Medical Device Standards and Good Manufacturing Practice.
- Support labour planning, monitor sickness and holiday cover, and help ensure production plans are delivered efficiently.
- Work closely with Production, Quality, R&D, and planning teams to provide clear and accurate communication across shifts.
- Identify opportunities to reduce waste, lower costs, and improve Right First Time performance and batch record completion.
Required Expertise:
- Previous experience within a manufacturing environment, ideally with experience supervising or leading a team.
- Good understanding of Health and Safety procedures within a production or manufacturing setting.
- Understanding of Good Manufacturing Practice and the ability to work to high quality standards.
- Excellent communication, organisational, and problem-solving skills, with strong attention to detail.

Essential Qualifications
- Educated to GCSE level, including English and Maths, or equivalent
Essential Experience
- Previous experience within a manufacturing environment
Essential Skills and Competencies
- Able to supervise or lead a team within a manufacturing setting
- Good understanding of Health and Safety procedures in a production or manufacturing environment
- Understanding of Good Manufacturing Practice and capable of working to high quality standards
- Excellent communication, organisational, and problem-solving skills
- Strong attention to detail
- Computer literate and flexible, able to work effectively within a team-focused environment
Desirable Qualifications and Skills
- Experience of lean manufacturing or continuous improvement techniques
- Previous experience working within a regulated manufacturing environment
- Experience supporting production planning, labour allocation, or shift handovers
