We are always looking for exceptional individuals to join our multinational group of talented professionals and right now we are seeking to recruit a motivated and talented SMT Operator. In this role, you will support our Surface Mount Technology (SMT) production lines by ensuring components and materials are accurately prepared, counted, labelled and available when required. You will also support the operation of the SMT production lines, carry out quality checks and daily machine maintenance checks, while maintaining high standards of stock control, traceability, quality and safety.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out kitting and de-kitting of components for SMT production runs, ensuring materials are prepared and delivered to the production lines in a timely manner.
  • Return unused components and materials to the correct stock locations and ensure all stock is correctly identified, labelled and stored.
  • Monitor stock levels, maintain accurate records of component movements and report any shortages, discrepancies or identification issues.
  • Use an X-ray component counting machine to accurately count electronic components and correctly label them with the required part number, quantity and traceability information.
  • Support the SMT production lines with operational issues, quality checks and daily machine maintenance checks.
  • Follow company procedures relating to ESD protection, component handling, traceability, quality and health & safety, while maintaining a clean, organised and safe working environment.

Experience, Skills & Qualifications

  • Previous experience within an SMT, electronics or manufacturing environment would be beneficial.
  • Knowledge of electronic components such as resistors, capacitors, ICs and other SMT devices.
  • Comfortable working with PCs and software packages, as SMT machinery and processes are PC and bespoke software driven.
  • Good attention to detail with a strong focus on accuracy, particularly when handling components, stock and traceability information.
  • Able to work effectively in a fast-paced production environment, with a good level of fitness as the role is active throughout the shift.
  • Enthusiastic and self-motivated, with the ability to prioritise effectively and multitask.
  • Flexible approach to tasks and good communication skills.
