Paediatric Occupational Therapist in Reading

Are you a qualified, either newly or already experienced Occupational Therapist who is passionate about working with children and young people? Are you looking to work as part of a supportive team in a flexible working environment? Due to service expansion we are recruiting Occupational Therapists of all levels across our CYPIT teams (band 5/6/7). We are open to full and part time applicants and can also offer FTC for flexibility. We are able to be flexible with geographical location and can offer bases in Slough, Maidenhead, Reading, Wokingham, Bracknell and West Berkshire.

We are looking for people who have a real passion for seeing children and young people reach their potential and ensuring that we provide the best possible service at a range of ages and with a range of needs. We provide services to a mixture of young people and can support roles in Early Years, Special Schools and Mainstream schools. Working with us you will have the opportunity to be part of an experienced team of therapists, whilst having independence and autonomy to manage your own caseload. As a service we are committed to the development of our staff and can work with you to set development goals. Our core hours are Monday to Friday 9:00 - 17:00 in which we can offer some flexibility including some home working. As the role will involve some travel it is essential to be a driver.

Main Duties of the Job:

• Provide high quality assessment and interventions for children and young people with developmental / complex needs.
• Function as a specialist autonomous clinician, supporting delivery of the Children and Young People's Integrated Therapies (CYPIT) model and providing support to more junior staff and students.
• Contribute to defined projects and service development initiatives as requested.
• Maintain accurate and contemporaneous clinical records and provide written therapy plans and reports including contribution to the EHC Assessment process and tribunals as required.
• Use needs-led, impact-based clinical decision making, and associated outcome measures.
• Provide specialist clinical care including assessment, diagnosis and intervention.

Job responsibilities:

• Be a qualified Occupational Therapist, with HCPC registration.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Hold a full UK driving license, with access to using a vehicle for work purposes.

Person Specification:

• Essential: AHP qualification degree or equivalent, HCPC Registered.
• Desirable: Completion of post graduate education or training relevant to clinical role or post, Continuous Professional Development.

• Essential: Experience of working with families from a wide variety of backgrounds including age and ethnicity.
• Desirable: Evidence of experience in clinical work in children's services, Experience of working with CYP with sensory processing difficulties including ASD, and supporting CYP with physical and/or learning difficulties.

• Essential: Evidence of a value system which puts the child at the heart of actions, Able to demonstrate an understanding of paediatrics and the diverse needs of children and young people in a broad sense, Clear, succinct communication skills, Ability to work in a calm and confident manner in stressful situations, Ability to work successfully as part of a multi-disciplinary team, Knowledge of current professional and statutory issues, Ability to work across professional boundaries to effect seamless family care, Ability to self motivate, Basic computer literacy.
• Desirable: Understanding of the English Education System, Knowledge of SEND processes and EHCP assessment process, Evidence of an understanding and application of Care Planning approaches, and evidence of a belief in its value, Able to use IT to support and innovate clinical development, Evidence of recent relevant CPD.

• Essential: Car driver with access to a car and willingness to work across Berkshire, as required, Good Interpersonal Skills.
