North Middlesex University Hospital is one of London's busiest acute hospitals, serving more than 350,000 people living in Enfield and Haringey and the surrounding areas. Every day, on average, we see in excess of 600 patients in A&E; 15 babies are born in our maternity unit; about 450 inpatients are cared for on our wards; about 50 patients have major or minor surgery in one of our 10 operating theatres; and about 800 people attend our outpatients clinics. We provide a full range of adult, elderly and children's services across medical and surgical disciplines.
Main duties of the job:
- Lead practice development aspect of the ED team of nurses and health care support workers.
- Empower the team to provide outstanding care.
- Ensure outstanding safety and quality at all times.
- Teach clinical practice and create outstanding outcomes.
- Support the Matron team with great opportunities for development and education.
Job responsibilities:
- Lead allocated number of staff ensuring the promotion and maintenance of a high quality and safe standard of care.
- Attend essential training/update sessions to retain clinical skills.
- Complete relevant paperwork regarding untoward incidents.
- Manage care and control of medication and controlled drugs.
- Undertake advanced practical skills following successful completion of recognised training.
- Assess care needs and participate in the evaluation of programmes of care.
- Monitor and maintain the highest standards of hand hygiene and environmental cleaning practices.
- Implement and monitor the principles of infection control.
Person Specification:
- Post nursing qualification in a related nursing speciality.
- Educated to degree level.
- Teaching qualification.
- Experience of implementing research and innovation into practice.
- Minimum five years post registration experience.
