What will I be doing as a Dermatology Doctor?

In this role, you will manage a diverse and wide-ranging caseload of dermatological conditions. You will have the clinical autonomy to work independently, providing top tier specialist care in a supportive, community-focused environment.

Day to day, the post holder will deliver high quality clinical care to patients attending the community ophthalmology service in the following areas:

  • Assess, diagnose, and treat a variety of dermatological conditions
  • Utilise dermoscopy to examine and monitor skin lesions
  • Perform minor surgical procedures including excisions of cysts, moles, skin tags, warts, and lipomas
  • Educate and counsel patients on treatment plans, medications, and preventative skin care
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure coordinated patient care
  • Maintain accurate, confidential patient records and clinical documentation in line with GMC guidelines

To succeed in this role, you must meet the following criteria:

  • Valid inclusion on the GMC Register.
  • Registration: Medical Degree (MBBS/MBChB or equivalent) and be registered with the General Medical Council (GMC)
  • Have substantial experience in diagnosing and treating Dermatology conditions, within a Hospital setting.
  • Demonstrate a comprehensive understanding of Dermatological conditions as well as current evidence-based practice guidelines in Dermatology.
  • Possess excellent verbal and written communication skills to effectively interact with patients, colleagues, and other healthcare professionals.
  • Display a compassionate and caring attitude towards patients, recognising the impact of Dermatological conditions on their quality of life.
  • Exhibit strong analytical and critical thinking skills to assess complex cases, interpret diagnostic results, and devise appropriate treatment plans.
  • Good organisational skills and time keeping is vital.
