Job summary

The post holder will be a registered Nurse. As part of the HCP, they will be responsible for the successful organisation and delivery of the commissioned, School aged immunisation programme, within Cumbria.

  • Working with schools, parents and carers to maintain the health of the wider population from a positive uptake of the immunisation programme, reaching national and local targets
  • Establishing links with local and National Health Protection units as required
  • To plan, prepare and implement Immunisation sessions, as per the commissioned immunisation schedule
  • Identify risk and report incidents in accordance to policy and procedure to ensure high levels of safety
  • Maintain high levels of service delivery with the support of the Immunisation team lead
  • Identify areas of concern i.e. staffing levels/vaccines or cold chain and equipment issues
  • Maintain high levels of own competency in line with NMC code of professional conduct.

Main duties of the job

  • To provide high quality immunisation services to the community.
  • To work within North Cumbria Integrated Care NHS Foundation Trust (NCIC) guidelines, protocols and policies for safe staff working with children and their families.
  • To encourage and promote The National Childhood Immunisation Programme.
  • To provide information, documentation and support in identifying the current public health aims.
  • To work in partnership with other agencies both statutory and voluntary to deliver health improvement/protection programmes, as clearly identified
  • To work in partnership with individuals and groups including children and young people in accordance with recommendations of the Healthy Child Programme
  • To provide high quality immunisation services to the school aged population of Cumbria.
  • To provide information, documentation and support in identifying the current public health aims.
  • To educate and promote the benefits of immunisation with the aim to prevent school aged children from developing vaccine preventable diseases.
