Job summary
We have an exciting opportunity for 2 enthusiastic and motivated Staff Nurse to join our lively and busy multidisciplinary team at Sherwood Ward in Melbury Lodge. Melbury Lodge has two adult acute wards: Rosemary Ward offering care for up to 13 female patients and Sherwood Ward offering care for up to 13 male patients. It also houses Snowdrop Ward (Older Person Mental Health Ward) and Clover Ward (Mother and Baby Ward).
Melbury Lodge is based in Winchester and provides cares for the needs of service users across Hampshire.
We provide care and treatment to service users who are experiencing an acute mental health crisis and require a period of hospital care to support their recovery.
We are looking to appoint an experienced RMN who is committed to leading and delivering high quality patient care. The successful applicant will be committed to supporting service users and their families with their recovery and will be based on Sherwood ward.
Main duties of the job
- To lead the clinical management of a designated group of service users in assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating nursing care
- To ensure that junior staff and students are actively engaged in patient activity
- To observe, report and record changes in the service user physical, mental health and behaviour
- To work with the MDT in planning and delivering care
- To maintain working knowledge of legislation, policy and guidance pertaining to mental health and learning disabilities
- To identify, provide and supervise the necessary physical care to service users to help them complete daily living activities
- To act in a manner to respect the customs, individuality, values, sexuality, spiritual beliefs and activity, supporting the individual to fulfil these
- To identify, provide and supervise therapeutic activities, emotional support and stability to clients to ensure effective engagement whilst maintaining professional boundaries
- To create and maintain professional supportive relationships with all members of staff and with other professionals and agencies to enhance recovery
- To undertake prescribed physical observations as follows. To be responsible for the correct administration of prescribed medication
- To work within Trust and Professional Guidelines related to consent and capacity to consent
