Clinical Research Nurse in West Kirby

We are seeking an enthusiastic and organised nurse to support the delivery of clinical research studies within a primary care setting as a clinical research nurse. This is an excellent opportunity for someone interested in developing a career in clinical research. Previous research experience is not required, as training will be provided. The post is offered on a fixed-term basis for an initial period of one year, with the potential for extension subject to funding and performance. The research team manages a substantial and growing portfolio of both commercial and non-commercial studies, offering exposure to a wide range of therapeutic areas and research opportunities. Working alongside experienced investigators, clinicians, and research professionals, the post holder will support patient recruitment, study delivery, data collection, and participant care while contributing to the continued growth and success of a thriving research programme. All research activities will be conducted in accordance with study protocols, Good Clinical Practice (GCP), and relevant governance requirements, while maintaining the highest standards of patient safety, confidentiality, and care.

Marine Lake Medical Practice is a highly research active practice with a team of research experienced doctors, nurses and pharmacists. We are the host site for Cheshire & Merseyside Primary Care Commercial Research Delivery Centre, covering 2.6 million patients across nine local authority areas. As one of only 14 PC CRDCs in England, C&M PC CRDC aims to support the shift of research and care from hospitals into community settings, enhancing access to clinical trials for people from all walks of life, particularly those in underserved groups.

Key Responsibilities:

• Support the identification, screening, recruitment, and retention of patients participating in research studies.
• Provide information and guidance to participants throughout their research journey and support the informed consent process.
• Assist with participant visits, data collection, documentation, and study administration.
• Collect and maintain accurate research records and data in accordance with study protocols and information governance requirements.
• Support the reporting and documentation of adverse events and study outcomes.
• Assist with the collection and processing of biological samples, following appropriate training and study requirements.
• Work collaboratively with healthcare professionals, research sponsors, and research teams to ensure successful study delivery.
• Maintain high standards of patient care, safety, confidentiality, and professionalism.
• Contribute to the promotion of research opportunities within primary care and support patient and public involvement activities.
• Participate in training and continuous professional development to build research knowledge and skills.

Person Specification:

Experience

• Nursing degree with current NMC professional registration.
• Willingness to work flexibly and undertake training to expand your clinical and research skills.
• Work well as part of a team, and ability to adapt to the needs of the research team.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to manage workload effectively and meet deadlines.
• Good IT skills, including Microsoft Office applications.
• Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
• Commitment to maintaining confidentiality and data accuracy.
• Willingness to undertake training in clinical research and Good Clinical Practice (GCP).

Qualifications

• Degree in Nursing, NMC PIN holder, Current UK driving license holder.
