Sister/Charge Nurse - Emergency Department Warrington

This is an exciting opportunity to join our already well-established team within the Urgent and Emergency Care Clinical Business Unit at Warrington Emergency Department. The Emergency Department has a co-located Paediatrics Unit, Minor Injuries, Emergency Ambulatory Care Unit, Same Day Emergency Care (SDEC). We also have an Urgent Care Centre at Halton. Main duties of the job:

• Assess, plan, implement and evaluate programmes of evidence-based nursing care.
• Provide management and organisation of a clinical area.
• Participate in the education, development, and line management of other staff members.
• Work collaboratively and co-operatively with others to meet the needs of patients and their families.
• Participate in improvement of services and the quality-of-care provision.

Clinical:

• Evaluate care delivery according to changing health care needs and varying levels of complexity.
• Collect, collate, evaluate, and report information, maintaining accurate patient records.
• Involve patients and carers / relatives in the planning and delivery of care.
• Work collaboratively with other professionals and agencies to ensure patient needs are met, especially in relation to ongoing care needs and discharge arrangements.
• Establish and maintain effective communication with patients and carers / relatives.
• Recognise and respond appropriately to urgent and emergency situations.
• Have significant experience of managing patients who require NIV, CPAP and Nasal Hi Flow O2 therapy.
• Have significant experience of working in a multidisciplinary team in the management of major trauma patients.

Person Specification:

Experience:

• Broad range of clinical experience and experience in paediatric A/E Nursing post registration experience in ED.

Qualifications:

• RN (Adult) Degree or equivalent experience RGN or post basic qualification related to in A/E Mentorship.

Skills, Knowledge & Competencies:

• Participated in service development and implementation of change.
• Ability to communicate in a variety of settings with patients of varying levels of understanding.
• Basic knowledge of financial management within the clinical setting.
• Ability to communicate unpleasant and sensitive information.
• Able to present written information in a logical manner.
• Basic IT skills in work processing and spreadsheets.
• Able to manage own workload, co-ordinate the work of others and work with minimal supervision.
• Participation in staff management.
• Knowledge of professional and NHS issues.
• Assertive.
• Ability to develop effective interpersonal relationships with colleagues in the health care setting.
