We are looking for an inspired individual with Cardiology experience to lead our 3C Day Unit. The job will be suitable for senior nurses looking to advance their leadership and managerial career. The job offers the unique opportunity to bring your expertise to ensure safe and compassionate patient experience whilst maximising our capacity utilisation through innovative ways. You will work alongside the Matron of the department and lead your team of junior sister and charge nurses, staff nurses, nursing associates and healthcare support workers to deliver high quality care. We have a Monday to Friday shift pattern with our catheterisation labs offering world renowned emergency and day care to cardiology elective patients.

The post holder will pro-actively lead and manage the nursing team and help the team to achieve their aspirations through audit and quality improvement initiatives. The post holder will actively contribute to realise the service vision and key targets by working closely with the service leads. The ward manager will partner with the peers to drive incremental innovation to achieve safe and compassionate patient experience.

  • Qualifications
    • Essential: RGN/RN, Intravenous accreditation, Mentorship course or equivalent, Cardiac specialist modules, Evidence of CPD
    • Desirable: Evidence of degree level education, Leadership Training, ALS
  • Experience
    • Essential: Experience of co-ordinating shifts, At least 2 years Cardiology experience at band 6 level, Experience in acute hospital setting / CCU, Roster management, appraisal and sickness management experience
    • Desirable: Knowledge of clinical governance issues such as complaints handling and clinical risk management.

    • Essential: Ability to recognise deteriorating patients, Ability to solve problems and use initiative, Good interpersonal skills, Ability to work as a team member, Ability to manage own workload, Demonstrates clear verbal and written communication skills, Positive attitude and ability to work under pressure, Adaptability to changing workload, Willing to broaden knowledge and learn specific competencies, Ability to respond positively to constructive criticism
