At Turning Point, we are recognised leaders in helping people recover from addiction and gain control of their lives. By providing the right support in a timely manner and making sure that people can find all the help they need, we have grown into one of the largest providers of substance misuse services in England and Wales. City and Hackney is a fully integrated adult service delivered by Turning Point in partnership with Mind CHWF and London Friend, focusing on partnership working throughout the service to support those in the local community who need assistance to achieve their goals.

We deliver treatment and support across the neighbourhoods ensuring a holistic and inclusive approach to recovery in this exciting new service. We are currently recruiting for a Registered Nurse (RGN) or Mental Health Nurse (RMN) to work in our City & Hackney Substance Use Service as a Substance Use Nurse, where you’ll have the chance to make a real difference to the lives of the people experiencing difficulties from substance misuse and alcohol dependency.

Role Responsibility

As a Substance Use Nurse you will be involved with supporting opiate substitute treatment, alcohol and opiate detoxifications and promoting the uptake of naloxone. You will also provide support to the people we work with, providing Blood Borne Virus screening and vaccinations and other screening activities. Work closely with mental health, physical health and social care services. You'll also help to create a collaborative approach that links Turning Point ever closer to outside professionals and agencies. The development of stronger links with our three local general hospitals and mental health inpatient unit is part of this role. You may also be required to do community outreach work.

The Ideal Candidate

Full training will be provided and no direct experience of substance use is required but an ability to demonstrate providing effective health interventions with hard to reach cohorts such as homelessness would be advantageous. Registered with the Nursing & Midwifery Council, you will need to be confident managing both opiates and alcohol detoxifications within both our Nursing Team and the wider team at Turning Point and the agencies we work with.
