Urgent Neighbourhood Services Band 6 AHP: Fixed term - 4 months (36 hours)

An exciting opportunity has arisen within Urgent Neighbourhood Services for an enthusiastic and motivated Band 6 Allied Health Professional (AHP) on a fixed-term basis until January 2026.

This role offers a unique opportunity to work as part of a dynamic multidisciplinary team, supporting the delivery of high-quality, patient-centred care within the community. The successful candidate will play a key role in assessing, treating and supporting patients with complex needs, helping to prevent unnecessary hospital admissions and facilitating safe, effective care.

We are looking for an individual who is passionate about delivering excellent patient care, demonstrates strong clinical reasoning skills, and is committed to working collaboratively within a multidisciplinary environment

Main duties of the job

To work collaboratively within the specialist multi-disciplinary team (MDT)

To work with MDT to promote an efficient, effective service for patients and carers

Work as an autonomous practitioner, both professionally and legally accountable for all aspects of the professional and clinical work.

To bring an AHP dimension of rehabilitation to the multi-disciplinary team. Focused therapeutic Intervention for symptoms and difficulties associated with presenting diagnosis; being guided by recommendations from up-date Nice Guidelines:

To have responsibility for the therapeutic management of patients within the speciality care pathway

To be responsible for a designated caseload of patients, where you will assess patients, implement and evaluate treatment plans coordinating therapeutic interventions within the speciality .

As a registered Allied Health Care Professional you will assist in the organisation, development, promotion and delivery of the Service

To liaise with health, education and social services, working in partnership with primary and secondary care, social prescribers and other external agencies to ensure the delivery of a high quality service facilitating efficient and effective discharge and/or onward referrals

Make recommendations to clinical team leader for changes to practice, leading the implementation of specific changes as required, and contribute to service development

• Experience of working in an acute UK hospital including experience of the following specialities. Orthopaedics; Medicine; Respiratory; Stroke/Neurology; Older people.

Education and Qualifications

Essential

• BSc Hons. Degree in Occupational Therapy/Physiotherapy
• State Registration (Health and Care Professions Council)
• Evidence of Continuous Professional Development maintained in a portfolio including attendance at recent postgraduate courses relevant to the clinical field
• Involvement with special Clinical Interest Group.

Desirable

• Membership of the Chartered Society of Occupational Therapy
• Involvement with special Clinical Interest Group.

Knowledge

Essential

• Knowledge and experience of Clinical audit.
• Understand the legal responsibilities of the profession
• Understanding of professional ethics and their application and practice
• Knowledge of health legislation and current practice
• Knowledge of Mental Capacity Act and application
• Knowledge of Safeguarding responsibilities
