South East Durham Community Midwifery Team Leader Ferryhill

This is an exciting opportunity for a driven and motivated midwife, who matches the requirements of the person specification, to develop management skills and become a part of our Community Team Leaders Team. You would be based at Ferryhill Health Clinic, but working clinically within associated Team areas. The role requires an experienced Midwife who can provide evidence of working within a Community Setting, extensive knowledge of Safeguarding Adults and Children, and an ability to work with wider stakeholders. We are keen to develop highly trained Midwives, who deliver exceptional care, to the families of County Durham and Darlington.

Main duties of the job include:

• Coordination of care of the women within one of our Community Midwifery Teams.
• Ability to escalate concerns in a timely manner.
• Carrying team leader responsibilities which will include allocation of workload, reviewing skill mix, ensuring safe staffing levels, allocation of training and appraisals, and roster planning.
• Dealing with unpredictable high levels of clinical activity to include assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of midwifery care in a safe environment.

You must be able to produce ALL certificates stated essential in the person specification or you will not be able to complete pre-employment checks. We provide hospital services from two acute sites - Darlington Memorial Hospital and University Hospital of North Durham. We have a centre for planned care in Bishop Auckland and provide care from community hospitals in Chester-le-Street, Shotley Bridge, Barnard Castle, Sedgefield and Weardale as well as over 80 other community-based settings and providing care in patients' homes.

Job responsibilities include:

• Looking for a Band 7 Community Midwifery Team Leader, for our South East Durham as the substantive postholder temporarily moves to another role.
• Developing skills and knowledge as a Midwifery Leader.
• Working closely with Patient Safety Midwives committed to quality and improvement.
• Collaborating with the Practice Development Team, Infant Feeding team, and Antenatal and Newborn Screening Team.
• Building close working relationships with our Safeguarding Children's Team.

Person Specification:

• Statutory Registration: Registered Midwife with UK NMC PIN.
• Experience: 3 years or more experience within a Community Setting at Band 6.
• Skills: IT skills, good interpersonal skills, excellent organisational skills, excellent time management, ability to be a reflective practitioner, committed to professional and personal development, excellent communication and leadership skills.
• Desirable: Experience of linking with outside agencies, recognised teaching/assessing qualification, postgraduate certificate in health-related subject, Master or equivalent experience, PMA qualification, trained NIPE practitioner.

• Ability to travel across trust as required.
