An exciting opportunity to join our Critical Care team or to progress within the existing team on our new purpose built 16 bedded Critical Care. The requisite for this role is a person who is enthusiastic, dynamic and possesses excellent interpersonal, communication, leadership and organizational skills. You will be supported by equally motivated, passionate and dedicated colleagues including the Clinical Matron, Unit Manager, and Practice Development Team, who are as keen as you are in ensuring that we get things right first time every time!
Main duties of the job:
- To work as a registered nurse within Critical Care within the Scheduled Care Division.
- To prioritise and deliver nursing care and assessment as needed.
- To demonstrate high standards of care and set examples of best practice within the delivery of patient care.
- To be responsible for developing, coordinating, documenting and providing an exceptional standard of nursing care to critically ill patients.
- To provide strong clinical leadership to the nursing staff on Critical Care.
- Be able to lead the shift using clinical and managerial skills to enable high standards of care to be delivered, in all areas of the department.
- To liaise with other departments and staff to ensure that patient care is delivered.
- To ensure patients safety, privacy and dignity is maintained at all times.
- Ensure continuity and improvements are implemented and maintained within Critical Care and contribute to the development of nurses and the nursing strategy within the Scheduled Care Division.
- To undertake such duties as from time to time determined by the Unit Manager and/or Practice Development Team.
Person Specification:
Qualifications- Essential: Registered Nurse (1st Level), Diploma, Post Registration qualification in speciality, Teaching & assessing qualification.
- Desirable: Degree/working towards, Leadership course.
- Essential: Substantial post registration experience, Teaching within clinical area, Evidence of continuous professional development, Experience of regularly managing a clinical area and clinical team, Experience of clinical audit and research.
- Desirable: Experience of change management.
- Essential: Ability to set & establish priorities, Team Player & Team Leadership qualities, Assertiveness, Excellent time management, Good I.T. skills, Decision maker, Communicate at all levels, Lateral thinker and problem solver, Management of change, Influencing skills, Delegation skills, Intermediate Life Support, The ability to communicate effectively in English.
- Desirable: Advanced Life Support, Management of change.
