Riverside Medical Practice is a vibrant town centre training practice seeking to recruit a Salaried GP(s) for between 4 to 8 sessions, depending on applicant(s), to work alongside our friendly, experienced team. We offer a competitive salary – BMA compatible starting at £11,410 per session, which may be higher depending on your experience and skills. Flexible working is considered.
We are a training practice set in the heart of a fabulous town, having moved to our amazing purpose-built building in 2020. Our town centre location is within a 5-minute walk of Shrewsbury indoor market, which has been voted Britain’s favourite indoor market on four occasions. Shrewsbury has been cited in The Times newspapers list of 10 best places to live in 2025, with proximity to wonderful countryside, a formidable food scene, and good local state schools.
We are Skilled Worker Visa (Tier 2 visa) sponsorship licence approved.
Main duties of the job:
We are an innovative team, keen to try out new ways of working. We regularly adapt how we work to make our jobs as GPs more sustainable and enjoyable. Exciting initiatives include AccuRx digital triage through our in-house duty hub and outsourcing our daily medicines management work. We aim to improve continuity for both patients and GPs while minimising administrative work through effective workflow and the triage of pathology results.

Riverside is a large training practice in the centre of Shrewsbury with an excellent reputation for teaching medical students from Keele and providing supportive training posts for foundation doctors and Shropshire VTS specialist trainees. We encourage our Salaried GPs to immerse themselves in the culture of the Practice and get actively involved in teaching and mentoring. We support GPs who are new to Practice, providing a supportive learning environment and helping those who wish to develop their special interests.
Job responsibilities:
The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work with our extensive multi-disciplinary team at the practice and access a wide range of additional roles through our PCN, including pharmacists, first contact physio, acute visiting paramedics, social prescribers, mental health practitioners, and dieticians. Riverside Medical Practice offers a supportive and convivial environment to work, supported by our excellent administrative and clinical teams.
Main duties of the role:
As part of our multidisciplinary team, the Salaried GP will care for a diverse patient group through undertaking the full range of primary care services. The Salaried GP will be responsible, together with our multi-disciplinary team, for delivering the full range of primary care services ensuring the highest standards of care for our practice population. Duties include telephone and face-to-face consultations, duty hub sessions, home visits, and dealing with paperwork, clinical referrals, and correspondence in a timely manner. Awareness and compliance with relevant practice policies, including confidentiality, data protection, health & safety, Quality Outcomes Framework, enhanced services, and CQC registration, is essential.

Qualifications:
- Qualified GP MRCGP
- Eligible to work in General Practice in the NHS
- Vocational Training Certificate or equivalent
- JCPTGP National Performers List Registration
- General Practitioner (Certificate of Completion of Training CCT)
- Full GMC Registration
- Full UK driving licence
Experience:
- Qualified GP MRCGP
- Vocational Training Certificate or equivalent
- General understanding of the GMS contract
Desirable:
- Experience of mentoring and supervising doctors in training and other clinicians
