Shift patterns: Monday-Friday 8:30am-5pm and Saturdays 8:30am-2pm
We make health happen. The Cromwell Hospital is a leading private hospital in southwest London providing outpatient and inpatient services. The hospital has 180 beds and 4 suites, 6 theatres, level 2 and 3 full intensive care facilities, paediatrics, diagnostic services, physiotherapy, a dedicated day surgery unit, and private GP services.
As a Senior Pharmacy Assistant, you will be a key member of the Pharmacy Procurement, Stores and Distribution Team, supporting the day-to-day operation of pharmacy stores and distribution services. You will work closely with suppliers, pharmacy colleagues and clinical teams to ensure stock availability, efficient purchasing processes and excellent customer service across multiple hospital locations.
Key Responsibilities
- Support pharmacy procurement activities and process purchase orders accurately.
- Manage stock levels and inventory across pharmacy stores and satellite locations.
- Coordinate deliveries, goods receipt and the distribution of medicines and consumables.
- Monitor back orders, medicine shortages and supply disruptions.
- Investigate stock discrepancies and assist with corrective actions.
- Support service improvement initiatives and operational efficiency projects.
- Provide guidance and support to Pharmacy Assistants and new team members.
- Maintain compliance with pharmacy regulations, SOPs and hospital standards.
Qualifications / Experience
Essential
- BTEC Level 2 Pharmacy Assistant qualification (or equivalent)
- Previous experience working within a pharmacy purchasing or procurement environment
- Excellent organisational and time management skills
- Strong communication and interpersonal abilities
- Good IT and database skills
- The ability to prioritise workloads and work effectively under pressure
- A proactive, flexible and customer-focused approach to work
Desirable
- Experience using Ascribe or similar pharmacy systems
- Acute hospital pharmacy experience
- Data analysis and reporting skills
- Experience contributing to audits, quality improvement or service development projects
- Previous supervisory or team-leading experience
