We are looking for a highly motivated, experienced, and enthusiastic Band 7 Biomedical Scientist with experience or a keen interest in quality to work within the Cellular Pathology department, Salisbury District Hospital. The successful candidate will:

  • Hold registration with the HCPC (Health and Care Professions Council) as a Biomedical Scientist.
  • Have a BSc in Biomedical Sciences or equivalent.
  • Have an MSc in a relevant subject, Member of the Institute of Biomedical Science (MIBMS) or equivalent experience.

Main duties of the job include:

  • Managing and being in technical charge of multiple sections of the service.
  • Checking and maintaining all aspects of quality of the work, detecting problems and taking appropriate remedial action where necessary.
  • Managing daily staff rotas for work allocation for Biomedical Scientists, new staff, students, and support staff.
  • Supporting the training and supervision of Biomedical Scientists, Trainee Biomedical Scientists, and support staff in the department, developing and improving professional expertise and specialist skills as required by the changing needs of the service.
  • Fostering a culture of continual learning.
  • Ensuring technical standards are maintained through internal and external QA schemes in accordance with ISO 15189:2022 standards for accreditation.
  • Managing the servicing, calibration, and validation of the equipment and instruments in the department.
  • Supporting the delivery of a high-quality, safe, and compassionate healthcare service.

Laboratory working hours are Monday to Friday 8am to 5:30pm.
