Job summary

Branch End Surgery is a friendly, forward-thinking dispensing practice in the beautiful Tyne Valley, serving around 5,300 patients.

We are an established GP training practice with a strong reputation for delivering high-quality, patient-centred care in a supportive and collaborative environment.

Our multidisciplinary team includes GP partners, salaried GPs, Doctors in Training, nurses, healthcare assistants, pharmacists, care coordinators and an experienced administrative team.

We also work closely with our attached ARRS colleagues, including first contact physiotherapists, mental health practitioners and social prescribers, ensuring our patients benefit from a truly multidisciplinary approach to care.

• We are looking to recruit a Salaried GP on a fixed-term contract from
• 1st September 2026 until
• 31 March 2027 for

2-3 sessions per week .

The successful candidate will provide a mix of routine and urgent GP appointments, supported by an experienced clinical and administrative team.

There will also be opportunities to contribute to the teaching and supervision of Doctors in Training and medical students.

Main duties of the job

• Delivering high-quality medical care to the registered practice population.
• Undertaking a combination of routine and same-day GP appointments.
• Managing patients with acute and long-term conditions in line with national and local guidance.
• Prescribing safely and cost-effectively in accordance with local and national prescribing guidance.
• Maintaining accurate, contemporaneous and legally compliant clinical records.
• Processing clinical administration in a timely manner, including referrals, investigations, correspondence and repeat prescription requests.
• Working collaboratively with the wider multidisciplinary team, including our attached ARRS colleagues, to provide coordinated patient care.
• Contributing to the achievement of Quality and Outcomes Framework (QOF), Enhanced Services and other quality improvement initiatives.
• Participating in clinical meetings, significant event reviews, clinical audit and practice development activities.
• Supporting the education and supervision of Doctors in Training and medical students, where appropriate.
• Maintaining professional registration, appraisal and revalidation requirements and engaging in continuing professional development (CPD).
• Working in accordance with practice policies, clinical governance standards and GMC guidance.
• Contributing to the ongoing development of the practice and supporting the partners in delivering high-quality, sustainable primary care services.

• Job responsibilities
• Delivering high-quality medical care to patients registered with the practice.
• Providing a range of routine GP consultations, managing long-term conditions and undertaking home visits where clinically appropriate.

The practice operates a dedicated duty doctor system to support urgent and acute presentations, ensuring patients receive timely care and clinicians are supported within their roles.

• Prescribing safely and effectively in line with local and national guidance.
• Working collaboratively with the wider multidisciplinary team to support coordinated patient care.
• Maintaining accurate, contemporaneous clinical records in line with professional standards, practice policies and guidance.
• Completing clinical administration in a timely manner, including referrals, correspondence, investigations and repeat prescription requests.
• Supporting the delivery of services within the GMS contract and other practice priorities.
• Contributing to clinical governance, audit, significant event reviews and quality improvement activities.
• Participating in practice meetings and contributing to the ongoing development of services.
• Supporting the education and supervision of Doctors in Training and medical students, where appropriate.
• Maintaining professional registration, appraisal and revalidation requirements.
• Engaging in continuing professional development and supporting a culture of learning within the practice.
