About the Role

We're looking for a skilled and motivated

Ophthalmic Nurse Injector to join our growing ophthalmology service.

This is a specialist role where you'll work as a clinical expert within a multidisciplinary team, delivering high-quality, patient-centred care to individuals undergoing treatment for age-related macular degeneration and other retinal conditions.

You'll have the opportunity to work both autonomously and collaboratively, supporting the continued development of nurse-led ophthalmology services.

Shift pattern

A range of shifts based at Croft Shifa Health Centre, Rochdale (OL16 2UP), with some travel to Bury and Tameside as required.

  • What you'll be doing
  • Performing intravitreal injections (IVI) for AMD and other macular conditions in line with clinical protocols.
  • Assessing, planning and delivering high-quality patient care within a specialist ophthalmology setting.
  • Working autonomously while remaining accountable for your clinical practice and decision-making.
  • Acting as a clinical expert and role model, supporting and advising colleagues within the multidisciplinary team.
  • Ensuring patient safety, dignity and wellbeing at all times through a person-centred approach.
  • Supporting service development, audit and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Contributing to training and education within the team and supporting the development of others.
  • Maintaining accurate clinical records and ensuring compliance with governance and regulatory standards.
  • What we'll look for in you
  • Experience in ophthalmology, with a strong interest in macular services and injection therapy
  • Competency in intravitreal injections, or willingness to undertake training
  • Ability to work independently and manage your own workload effectively
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a patient-centred approach
  • Strong understanding of clinical governance and commitment to high standards of care
  • A proactive, flexible attitude and willingness to travel between sites as required
