The post holder will have a leadership role, reporting to the Deputy Chief Nurse and working closely with senior leaders, clinicians and managers across the Trust to ensure that services are safe and effective. They will create an environment which promotes and supports patient safety and high-quality care.
The role is responsible for the management of quality and patient safety across the Royal Berkshire NHS Foundation Trust. This encompasses clinical effectiveness, incident management, learning from incidents and compliance. The post holder is overall accountable for all the services provided by the Patient Safety Team and Tissue Viability Team.
The Associate Director of Nursing will provide strategic direction to the Trust's patient safety, providing expert advice and guidance throughout the Trust. The post holder will lead and deliver on a range of patient safety and quality projects, contributing to the wider Trust Quality Strategy, Risk Strategy and compliance with the Care Quality Commission's standards. They will advise the Trust Board of any risk or patient safety concerns which could impact on CQC compliance requirements.
Main duties of the job include:
- Providing organisational wide leadership in shaping the ongoing direction of the patient safety strategy.
- Leading the development of priorities for PSIRF education and training, raising awareness of patient safety and risk management across the Trust in line with the Trust Training Needs Analysis.
- Accountable for leading, planning and delivery of patient safety improvement work streams (including NHS Safety Strategy) across the organisation in partnership with clinical leads and external providers or organisations to improve safety.
