Crown Medical Practice are looking to recruit an experienced Practice Nurse to join our high achieving expanding team. The ideal candidate will provide efficient, effective nursing care to our patients. We have a diverse clinical team made up of GPs, ANPs, Specialist Paramedic Practitioner, Practice Nurses, Nurse Associate & Trainee Nurse Associate, Pharmacist, and GP Assistant all striving to deliver both a high quality of care as well as meeting the increasing level of demand. Main duties of the job:

  • Management of chronic diseases e.g. Hypertension, Diabetes, Asthma, COPD, Thyroid disease.
  • Immunisation clinics and treatment clinics for the general nursing care of patients to include wound dressings, removal of sutures, ECGs, blood pressures.
  • Provision of cytology services and family planning information.
  • Maintain clinical areas and equipment, sterilisation of instruments and stock control.
  • Keep accurate, relevant records, both written and electronic.
  • Establish diagnoses to set protocols (e.g. BP, blood tests, ECG recordings, AMPBs).
  • Participate in clinical call and recall systems and record results.
  • Undertake clinical audits and assist with administration of recalls.
  • Assist in teaching and assessing Health Care Assistants/ student nurses and other members of staff where appropriate.

Crown Medical Practice is a long-established practice in Tamworth with our main surgery based at Tamworth Health Centre and our branch surgery at Stonydelph Health Centre. We currently have a list size of just under 9000 patients. We are an accredited research practice currently taking part in several projects. Crown Medical Practice consists of 2 GP partners, 4 Salaried GPs, 3 ACP/ANPs, a Specialist Paramedic Practitioner, a Pharmacist, 2 Practice Nurses, a Nurse Associate and Trainee Nurse Associate, a GP Assistant and an ever expanding administration team. We are a member of Mercian PCN working collaboratively with practices in the area to provide an excellent patient experience. The Partners are committed to supporting all staff employed by the practice and encourage them to develop their roles through training and mentoring. Crown Medical Practice consistently achieves excellent ratings in the National Patient Survey with the majority of patients rating their overall satisfaction with the practice as good or better. Our overall CQC rating is good (Inspection June 2022).

Job responsibilities:

The post holder must work as part of a team, should have the ability to organise and prioritise their own workload on a day to day basis, and observe strict rules about confidentiality. They must also know the limits of their own capabilities and seek direction from a GP, Senior Nurse or Practice Management Team member where necessary. Working strictly in accordance with specific practice or national guidelines, the Practice Nurse will assist the practice clinical team in the provision and delivery of prescribed programmes of patient care. The post holder must maintain registration with NMC, maintaining its Code of Conduct to protect the public through professional standards and fulfil its learning requirements.

Person Specification:

Experience Essential:

  • Experience of working within a nursing team.
  • Experience of dealing with vulnerable patients.
  • Experience of chronic disease and cytology patients.
  • Experience of working in a GP practice.
