Job summary
You will be expected to provide high-quality nursing care to patients within a GP surgery setting, supporting health promotion, chronic disease management, and treatment of minor illnesses.
Main duties of the job
Clinical Duties
- Deliver routine nursing care
- Perform cervical screening (smears)
- Carry out immunisations and vaccinations (adult and childhood)
- Undertake health checks
- Monitor and manage long-term conditions (e.g. asthma, diabetes, hypertension)
- Conduct ECGs and other basic diagnostic tests
Patient Care
- Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care
- Provide advice on general health, wellbeing, and disease prevention
- Support patients in managing chronic conditions
- Promote healthy lifestyle choices (e.g. smoking cessation, weight management)
Administrative Duties
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records
- Use clinical systems to document consultations and care plans
- Ensure compliance with practice protocols and guidelines
- Participate in audits and quality improvement initiatives
Infection Control & Safety
- Follow infection prevention and control procedures
- Ensure safe storage and handling of vaccines and medications
- Maintain a clean, safe clinical environment
Professional Responsibilities
- Maintain NMC registration and adhere to the Code of Conduct
- Participate in ongoing training and professional development
- Work collaboratively with GPs, healthcare assistants, and other staff
- Stay up to date with clinical guidelines and best practice

Job responsibilities
You will be part of a strong, well supported nursing team who work incredibly hard to support the patients with their long term conditions. You will be responsible for seeing patients for routine reviews, cervical screening, vaccinations, health checks, provide advice on disease prevention along with administration duties.
Qualifications
Essential
- You MUST be a qualified Nurse and worked in Primary Care previously.
Desirable
- Knowledge of SystmOne
