Join our friendly and supportive team at Portsmouth Urgent Treatment Centre as a Deputy Clinical Lead.

This is an exciting opportunity to combine advanced clinical practice with leadership responsibilities, helping to shape the future of our service while ensuring outstanding patient care.

Working closely with the Clinical Lead and Clinical Manager, you'll play a key role in developing colleagues, driving service improvements, maintaining high clinical standards, and supporting the day-to-day delivery of safe, effective and compassionate urgent care.

  • What you'll be doing
  • Providing expert autonomous assessment, diagnosis and treatment of patients presenting with urgent illness and injury.
  • Supporting the Clinical Lead and Clinical Manager in the operational and clinical leadership of the service.
  • Coaching, mentoring and developing clinical colleagues to achieve competencies and progress in their careers.
  • Driving quality improvement initiatives, clinical governance activities, audit programmes and service development projects.
  • Promoting evidence-based practice and implementing improvements that enhance patient outcomes and experience.
  • Supporting workforce planning, ensuring effective skill mix and maintaining a positive, high-performing clinical environment.
  • Contributing to risk management, patient safety and continuous improvement across the service.
  • What we’ll look for in you
  • Registered Nurse or Paramedic with current NMC or HCPC registration.
  • Advanced Practice qualification in Minor Illness and Minor Injury at Level 7 (or equivalent).
  • Independent Prescriber qualification, or willingness to work towards this.
  • Significant post-registration experience, including recent urgent or emergency care experience.
  • A proven ability to lead, motivate and develop multidisciplinary teams.
  • Strong clinical decision-making skills with the confidence to work autonomously in a fast-paced environment.
  • A passion for education, mentorship and supporting the development of others.
  • Excellent communication skills and a commitment to delivering high-quality patient-centred care.
