We are an elective surgical centre providing arthroplasty surgery, orthopaedics, general surgery, endoscopy and cataract surgery.
The clinical services include Outpatients, Day Surgery Unit, Inpatient Ward, Theatres, Endoscopy suite, Radiography, Physiotherapy and Pharmacy with care provided by a multidisciplinary team.
The Referral to Admissions Team (R2A) is a small team, based within the Out Patient Department, who are responsible for ensuring timely progression of patients from referral to PPG Plymouth through to admission for surgery.
This is a part-time position, working 3 x 8 hour days each week from 07:30am- 4:00pm (including 30 minutes unpaid lunch break)
- What you'll be doing
- Providing dynamic and effective leadership of the Referral to Admissions Team.
- Ensuring all patients referred to PPG Plymouth, progress through the referral to admission pathway in a timely and effective manner to provide a high volume of fit for surgery patients.
- Managing the Referral to Admissions Team to ensure co-ordination and delivery of all work activities within area of responsibility during that time.
- Co-ordinating all aspects of referral to admissions pathway for individual patients to ensure collaboration and prevent fragmented care by various health professionals and departments.
- What we’ll look for in you
- Registered Nurse (Level 1) with active NMC registration.
- Minimum 3 years post-registration experience with strong clinical judgement.
- Previous experience in pre-assessment or perioperative care.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work autonomously and within a multidisciplinary team.
- Strong time-management and organisational skills.
- Competent in using clinical IT systems.
- Understanding of infection control, health & safety, and pre-operative risk factors.
