Main duties of the job
- Lead on patient assessment and management.
- Provide consultancy and clinical leadership to the team.
- Engage in GP liaison, MDT meetings and medicolegal work (MHA/Sec 12).
- Participate in the day duty on‑call rota.
- Drive service transformation and collaborative working across agencies.
- Include assessment of new patients and follow‑up of patients referred to the service within the catchment area.
- Manage patients within the recovery model and perform Mental Health Act work (Section 12) when required.
- Cover for colleagues when on leave and support multidisciplinary team activities.
- Assess and follow up patients with first‑episode psychosis in the Early Intervention Team and provide medical support and advice to the EIP team.
Person specification
Qualifications
- MB BS or equivalent medical qualification.
- MRCPsych or MRCPsych equivalent approved by the Royal College of Psychiatrists.
Desirable
- Qualification or higher degree in medical education, clinical research or management.
- Additional clinical qualifications.
- Eligibility
- Fully registered with the GMC with a licence to practise at the time of appointment.
- Included on the GMC Specialist Register or within six months.
- Approved clinician status or able to achieve within three months of appointment.
- Approved under S12 or able to achieve within three months of appointment.
- In good standing with GMC with respect to warning and conditions on practice.
