Job summary

This is an exciting opportunity for a driven and motivated midwife, who matches the requirements of the person specification, to develop management skills and become a part of our Community Team Leaders Team. You would be based at Ferryhill Health Clinic, but working clinically within associated Team area's. The role requires an experienced Midwife who can provide evidence of working within a Community Setting, extensive knowledge of Safeguarding Adults and Children, and an ability to work with with wider stake holders.

Main duties of the job

We are looking for a midwifery leader who is committed and passionate, taking responsibility for the coordination of care of the women within one of our Community Midwifery Teams, and are able to escape concerns in a timely manner. We will take into consideration your skills and knowledge and develop a plan with you as to how you can transition into your role. Safety of our women and babies is paramount, and so we are looking for a highly skilled, professional leader to join our Team.

The post holder will carry team leader responsibilities which will include allocation of workload, reviewing skill mix, ensuring safe staffing levels, allocation of training and appraisals and roster planning. The post holder must be able to deal with unpredictable high levels of clinical activity to include assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of midwifery care in a safe environment.

We provide hospital services from two acute sites - Darlington Memorial Hospital and University Hospital of North Durham. We have a centre for planned care in Bishop Auckland and provide care from community hospitals in Chester-le-Street, Shotley Bridge, Barnard Castle, Sedgefield and Weardale as well as over 80 other community based settings and providing care in patients' homes.

Job responsibilities

We are looking for a Band 7 Community Midwifery Team Leader, for our South East Durham Durham as the substantive postholder temporarily moves to another role. We are looking for a Midwifery Leader who is keen to develop their skills and knowledge. It is an exciting time to be a part of our Maternity family!

We have an excellent team of specialists to support you in your role. Our Patient Safety Midwives are commited to quality and improvement whom you will have a close working relationship with. Our Practice Development Team actively works with our Community Services, and as a Community Team Lead you will have a very close working relationship with our Infant Feeding team, and our Antenatal and Newborn Screening Team. Close working relationships with our Safeguarding Children's Team is a must and as a Community Team Leader, you would benefit from having an extensive knowledge of safeguarding children procedures. You will be supported by our Matron for Community and Antenatal Outpatients and work collaberatively with your Community Team Leader colleagues. We are excited to look for new leaders to join our well established team, and add to the changing dynamics of our service

• PMA qualification
• Trained NIPE practitioner
