Job Summary

This is an exciting opportunity for a skilled and patient-focused Radiographer to join the Advanced Diagnostic team at St.

Joseph's Hospital.

The successful candidate will play a key role in delivering a high-quality imaging service across both General Radiography and Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI), ensuring exceptional patient care, diagnostic accuracy, and adherence to the highest standards of safety and clinical governance.

Working within a multidisciplinary healthcare environment, you will perform a broad range of imaging examinations, support service development initiatives, and contribute to continuous improvement within the department.

This role offers the opportunity to work both independently and collaboratively, applying specialist knowledge of radiography and MRI while maintaining a strong focus on patient experience, quality, and safety.

We are seeking a motivated and adaptable HCPC-registered Radiographer with significant experience in General Radiography and the ability to work confidently within an MRI service.

Excellent communication skills, sound clinical judgement, and a commitment to delivering outstanding patient-centred care are essential.

Candidates with MRI training, IV cannulation competency, and experience supporting service development will be particularly well suited to this role.

Main duties of the job

• Performing a comprehensive range of General Radiography examinations to a consistently high standard.
• Undertaking MRI examinations in line with departmental protocols, referral criteria, and MRI safety standards.
• Reviewing imaging requests to ensure examinations are appropriate, justified, and clinically relevant.
• Adapting imaging techniques to meet individual patient needs while maintaining optimal diagnostic image quality.
• Identifying significant or unexpected findings and escalating concerns in accordance with departmental procedures.
• Maintaining compliance with MRI safety screening processes and ensuring a safe environment for patients, staff, and visitors.
• Administering intravenous contrast media and undertaking patient cannulation where appropriately trained and authorised.
• Supporting emergency, inpatient, outpatient, and specialist imaging services as required.
• Working collaboratively with radiologists, clinicians, and other healthcare professionals to deliver effective patient care.
• Assisting the department in achieving performance targets, service standards, and patient access objectives.
• Participating in weekend, evening, and on-call rotas to support service delivery.
• Ensuring compliance with radiation protection legislation, IR(ME)R regulations, infection prevention standards, and clinical governance requirements.
• Maintaining accurate patient records and utilising RIS/PACS systems.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

• Participate in weekend, evening and on-call rotas where required.

Person Specification

Qualifications

Essential

• BSc (Hons) Radiography / Diploma of The College of Radiographers or equivalent.
• HCPC Registration.

Desirable

• Post graduate training or demonstrable competency in MRI.
