Job responsibilities

  • Provide outpatient and inpatient Stroke Medicine services.
  • Undertake infrequent inpatient General Medicine services.
  • Participate in a regular 1 in 11 commitment to the acute medical on-call rota.
  • Contribute to the supervision of junior medical staff.
  • Engage in teaching, examination, and accreditation duties.
  • Participate in undergraduate, postgraduate, and continuing medical education.

Person Specification

Qualifications

  • Essential: MBBS or equivalent.
  • MRCP or equivalent.
  • Entry on the GMC specialist register for General Internal Medicine and either Stroke Medicine or Geriatrics via (a) CCT (proposed CCT date must be within 6 months of interview), (b) CESR or (c) European Community rights.

Experience

  • Essential: Should have completed a recognised training programme in General Internal Medicine and Care of the Elderly with experience of Stroke Medicine.
  • Must be able to demonstrate a high level of clinical experience and competence in GIM, Care of the Elderly and Stroke Medicine.

Teaching / Research

  • Essential: Experience of teaching and training undergraduates, postgraduates and junior medical staff.
  • Evidence of participation in clinical audit relevant to specialty.
