Job summary
This role is for Clinical Psychologist / Neuropsychologist working across the Stroke Early Supported Discharge Service (SESD) and Chronic Pain Psychology Service within integrated physical healthcare pathways.
The postholder will support and enhance the work of multidisciplinary teams by providing specialist psychological and neuropsychological assessment, formulation and intervention to adults within stroke rehabilitation and persistent pain pathways.
The role will contribute to psychologically informed rehabilitation and long-term condition management through direct clinical work, multidisciplinary consultation, teaching, supervision, reflective practice, audit and service development.
The postholder will work autonomously within professional guidelines and within the framework of Trust policies and procedures.

This structure is intended to support integrated psychologically informed care across physical health pathways and provide opportunities for cross-service collaboration, rehabilitation psychology development and continuity of care across long-term health conditions.
Main duties of the job
- To provide specialist clinical psychology and neuropsychology services within stroke rehabilitation and chronic pain pathways.
- To undertake specialist psychological and neuropsychological assessments, formulations and interventions.
- To support psychologically informed rehabilitation and pain management approaches.
- To provide specialist consultation, teaching and support to multidisciplinary colleagues.
- To contribute to rehabilitation goal setting, discharge planning and complex care planning.
- To undertake risk assessment and risk management.
- To support carers and families adjusting to stroke-related disability, chronic pain and long-term health conditions.
- To contribute to service evaluation, audit, quality improvement and service development.
- To promote psychologically informed approaches across integrated physical healthcare services.

Qualifications
Essential
- Doctorate in Clinical Psychology or equivalent recognised by the HCPC
- HCPC registration as Practitioner Psychologist

- Postgraduate neuropsychology training
- Experience of ACT, CBT or CFT approaches

- Experience of psychological assessment and intervention with adults with complex needs
- Experience of multidisciplinary working
- Strong formulation and communication skills
- Ability to work autonomously and within MDT settings
- Commitment to psychologically informed rehabilitation and physical healthcare psychology
