Denton Turret Medical Centre are looking to recruit a friendly, enthusiastic and motivated GP to join our team. We are recruiting into 2 sessions including PDP. Working times will be open to discussion as we pride ourselves on flexibility and helping our team members maintain a good work / life balance. We offer a competitive salary and BMA contract. 7 weeks leave (pro rata) is included in the package. We have a supportive team to minimise the administration aspect for GPs with a workflow team dealing with most of our incoming clinical letters.
Main duties of the job
The successful candidate will be available to undertake a variety of duties including telephone, face to face and e-consultations, home visits, medicines management, and associated paperwork.

Membership of Newcastle Outer West Primary Care Network allows access to First contact practitioners for both mental health and physiotherapists, health and wellbeing team, pharmacists and pharmacy technicians who now carry out many medicines' changes from hospital discharges letters.
Job responsibilities
The post holder will support the three GP partners to manage a busy, interesting clinical caseload ensuring the highest standard of care for all registered and temporary patients. The post-holder will have the opportunity to lead on a key disease area and assist in developing services for the urban patient list. The post holder will carry out all the duties reasonably expected of an NHS general practitioner using the standards expected by the GMC and RCGP in line with appropriate national and/or local guidelines and Clinical Responsibilities.
In accordance with the practice rota, the post holder will make him/herself available to undertake a variety of duties including surgery, telephone and electronic consultations and queries, visiting patients homes, checking and signing repeat prescriptions and dealing with queries, paperwork and correspondence in a timely fashion. Responding to medical problems presented by temporary residents. Making professional, autonomous decisions in relation to presenting problems, whether self-referred or referred from other health care workers within the organisation. Assessing the health care needs of patients with undifferentiated and undiagnosed problems. Screening patients for disease risk factors and early signs of illness. In consultation with patients and in line with current practice disease management protocols, developing care plans for health management. To assist in the establishment of appropriate systems to manage common chronic medical conditions e.g. asthma, diabetes. Providing counselling and health education. Making appropriate and timely referral of patients for further opinion and treatment using ERS. Following all Practice, NHS England STB guidelines as appropriate. Typing own ERS referrals, clinical software consultation information and internal/external emails. Recording clear and contemporaneous consultation notes to agreed standards including the recording of appropriate information for the Quality and Outcomes Framework and Enhanced Services. Prescribing in accordance with Practice policy and NHS England local Formulary as clinically appropriate. Collecting data for audit purposes. To participate in targeted health promotion activity to benefit patients. Compiling and issuing computer-generated acute and repeat prescriptions. Appropriate medicine prescribing for both acute and repeat requirement in accordance with the practice prescribing formulary and guidelines whenever this is clinically appropriate. Timely assessment of incoming electronic and paper correspondence relating to both patient and non-patient information as required. Using the appropriate electronic systems. Participate in training plans of GP registrar, medical and nursing students as required. To complete insurance, DSS, DVLA and other reports relating to patients under your care. In general, the post holder will be expected to undertake all the normal duties and responsibilities associated with a GP working within primary care and any other duties reasonably required by the practice. Qualifications
Essential
- A medical practitioner whose name is included in the General Practitioner Register under article 10 of the General and Specialist Medical Practice Order 2003.
- Not subject to suspension under section 41A of the Medical Act 1983.
- Qualified General Practitioner (completed certificate of Completion of Training CCT).
- Currently on a PCT performers list and not suspended from that list or from the medical register.
- DBS clearance.
- Have had an annual NHS appraisal.
Desirable
- Evidence of further postgraduate educational activities in relevant fields.
- MRCGP DCH DRCOG.
Experience
Essential
- Recent experience of working in general practice in the UK.
- Commitment to and experience of working as part of a multidisciplinary and skill mixed team environment.
- Experience of working to achieve standards within the Quality and Outcome Framework (QOF).

- Evidence of independent working in General Practice.
