Salary: £39,959 - £48,117 per annum, pro rata

Hours: 23 hrs per week (Monday, Thursday and Friday - maternity cover until 26 March 2027), all MKUH roles will be considered for flexible working.

It is an exciting time for you to join the breast imaging team following the re-design of the unit to modernise the space and install state of the art technology into all rooms, this includes tomosynthesis, CESM and CESM biopsy along with a newly designed staff hub. The breast imaging department is part of the diagnostic Imaging team at MKUH and provides the National Breast Screening (NHSBSP) and symptomatic imaging service for the population of Milton Keynes. This is delivered from both the static breast unit and mobile screening unit locations so the ability to work flexibly across different sites is essential.

We are looking for a dedicated HCPC Radiographer with a passion for breast imaging to join our friendly team, who holds a UK regulated level 7 postgraduate qualification in Mammography or has a UK ENIC statement of compatibility. Main duties of the job:

  • As part of the Allied Health Professional team (AHP) you will collaborate, contribute and communicate with your AHP colleagues as you support each patient through their individual patient journey.
  • To work as part of the Breast Care Unit multidisciplinary team providing a breast screening and symptomatic service for the population of Milton Keynes.
  • This will include duties both on the Mobile Screening Unit and the Breast Care Unit in Milton Keynes Hospital, and will also include use of dedicated computer systems.
  • This role involves working alongside assistant practitioners, supervising, and mentoring as required.
  • To perform high quality diagnostic breast imaging to demonstrate or exclude breast cancer on all women attending the symptomatic or breast screening services, whilst maintaining a high standard of patient care.

Qualifications and knowledge:

  • Essential: BSc in Radiography or DCR(R), HCPC Registration, Post Graduate Certificate in Mammography.
  • Experience: Relevant NHS experience as a Radiographer, Awareness and understanding of Cancer Reform Strategy, National Breast Screening Programme.
  • Desirable: Previous experience in mammography, Ability to participate fully in QA, To guide and mentor assistant practitioners/ trainee mammographers.

  • Desirable: Proactive attitude, promote and suggest new working initiatives, Knowledge of digital imaging systems, Knowledge of PACS and RIS.

  • Essential: Excellent interpersonal skills, Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.

  • Essential: Able to perform the duties of the post with reasonable aids and adaptations, Commitment to work regular evening shifts and weekend shifts as required.
  • Desirable: Must be able to drive.
