An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced and motivated Highly Specialist Paediatric Diabetes Dietitian to join our paediatric diabetes service.
You will work as part of a supportive multidisciplinary team, providing specialist dietetic assessment, advice and education to children and young people with diabetes and their families.
We are looking for an enthusiastic and compassionate dietitian with excellent communication skills and a commitment to delivering high-quality, patient-centred care.
Main duties of the job
As a Highly Specialist Paediatric Diabetes Dietitian, you will provide specialist, evidence‑based dietetic care to children and young people with diabetes and their families.
You will undertake nutritional assessments, develop and review individualised care plans, and provide advice on diet, carbohydrate management and healthy lifestyle choices.
Working closely with the multidisciplinary paediatric diabetes team, you will contribute to clinics, patient reviews and care planning, while providing specialist advice and education to families and healthcare professionals.
You will manage and prioritise your own caseload, maintain accurate clinical records and contribute to the development of the paediatric diabetes dietetic service.

What is a DBS Check?

The Costs for a DBS
At Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust (MFT), roles that require a DBS check are subject to a cost recovery policy. This means that the cost of submitting and processing a DBS application if you are successful and join us, will be deducted from your salary within the first three months of employment. If, however, you withdraw from a conditional offer after the DBS process has begun, you will still be liable for the cost incurred.

Essential
- BSc. or MSc. in Dietetics OR BSc. in relevant science & Post Graduate Diploma or MSc. in Dietetics
- Registration via Healthcare Professions Council
- Evidence of Advanced/masters level post graduate training in paediatric dietetics e.g. BDA paediatric modules,
Desirable
- Registered member of the British Dietetic Association
- Involvement in paediatric dietetic interest group
- Post grad training in paediatric diabetes
Knowledge and Experience
Essential
- Substantial paediatric clinical dietetic knowledge and experience in an acute hospital setting including management of diabetes
- Understanding of different approaches to teaching children/carers.
- Specialist knowledge of dietetic assessment and treatment techniques
- Evidence of on-going Continual Professional Development in paediatric dietetics and diabetes
- Experience of and commitment to interdisciplinary team working
- Experience of line management /supervision of more junior staff.
- Evidence of contribution to clinical education and in-service training of less experienced staff/students and assistants.
