At North Manchester General Hospital, we are looking for enthusiastic, forward-thinking Consultants in Care of the Elderly to join a team that is ambitious, supportive, and actively transforming how elderly medicine and frailty services are delivered. North Manchester serves a population with some of the highest levels of frailty, deprivation and health inequality across Greater Manchester.

Many older patients access urgent care through the Emergency Department, often leading to admission and prolonged stays while complex care needs are arranged. We know this is not always in patients' best interests and can result in loss of independence, poorer outcomes and avoidable time away from home. We are committed to changing this. As part of a wider transformation programme, we are developing a dedicated front door Acute Frailty service aligned with national best practice and successful regional models. This will enable early Comprehensive Geriatric Assessment, proactive discharge planning and a more coordinated, patient-centred approach. Person Specification:

Qualifications:

• Essential: MBBS or equivalent medical qualification, MRCP, Other professional qualification or higher degree e.g. in medical education, clinical research or management, Full Registration and a licence to practise with the General Medical Council, Entry on GMC Specialist Register; eligible for entry on Register or within six months of receipt of Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) or Certificate of Eligibility for Specialist Registration (CESR) at time of interview, Meets the criteria set out in the Specialist generic Capabilities framework.
• Desirable: Evidence of Accredited Clinical & Educational Supervision of Medical Learners.
