Junior Clinical Fellow in Obstetric and Gynaecology Maidstone

We are seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Junior Clinical Fellow to join our clinical team and support the delivery of high-quality, patient-centred care across the Trust. The post holder will be involved in the assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and ongoing management of patients, working closely with consultants, multidisciplinary teams, and other healthcare professionals to ensure safe and effective clinical care. The successful candidate will participate in clinical governance, audit, quality improvement initiatives, and service development activities, contributing to the continuous improvement of patient services. The role includes involvement in undergraduate and postgraduate teaching, attendance at educational and training activities, and participation in the departmental on-call rota where applicable. Applicants will be expected to maintain high professional and ethical standards in line with GMC Good Medical Practice, engage in regular appraisal and personal development, and contribute positively to a supportive and collaborative working environment. Main duties of the job:

• Provide high-quality, patient-centred care as part of the clinical team.
• Assess, investigate, and manage patients under appropriate supervision.
• Participate in ward rounds, clinics, and other service activities.
• Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary colleagues to ensure safe and effective patient care.
• Contribute to clinical governance, audit, and quality improvement initiatives.
• Participate in the on-call rota and provide cover when required.
• Maintain accurate clinical records and comply with Trust policies and GMC standards.
• Support teaching, learning, and the development of medical students and junior colleagues.
• Engage in appraisal, mandatory training, and continuing professional development.
• Promote patient safety through effective risk management and incident reporting.

Person Specification:

Qualifications:

• Essential: Eligible for registration with the GMC MBBS or equivalent
• Desirable: Intercalated BSc, BA, MSc Experience in research methodology & publication MRCOG (Part 1) or equivalent other degrees / qualifications

Clinical Training & Experience:

• Essential: 6 months of SHO or equivalent
• Desirable: At least 6 months in recognised UK posts

Skills:

• Ability to communicate with clarity and intelligibility in written and spoken English; ability to build rapport, listen, persuade, negotiate the ability to produce legible notes multidisciplinary staff.
• See patients as people, empathise, work co-operatively with others, open and non-defensive, sense of humor
• Uses a non-judgmental approach to patients and colleagues
• Able to change and adapt, respond to rapidly changing circumstances
• Successful completion of Basic Life Support course.

Personal Attributes:

• Shows aptitude for practical skills e.g. manual dexterity.
• Clear, logical thinking showing analytical/scientific approach
• Desirable: Shows initiative / drive / enthusiasm (self-starter, motivated, shows curiosity, initiative)
• Completion of relevant courses, e.g. ALSO or equivalent, Basic Surgical Skills or equivalent
