Clinical Fellow Post (ST3+ Level) in Cardiology
Full-Time 40h/Week Fixed term 1 year

Applications are invited for a whole-time Clinical Fellow post (ST3+ level) in Cardiology. The post is available for 12 months initially, with the possibility of extension thereafter. This is an exciting opportunity to work at the Barts Heart Centre, which houses the merged services previously provided by The London Chest Hospital, St. Bartholomew's Hospital and The Heart Hospital. The Barts Heart Centre provides tertiary-level cardiac care to the population of northeast and north central London.
Main duties of the job
There will be the opportunity to train in diagnostic coronary angiography and percutaneous coronary intervention (depending on previous experience). Duties will include the inpatient care of patients admitted with acute coronary syndromes, including through the regional heart attack service. There will also be the potential to be on call, including as part of the out-of-hours PCI on-call team, depending on previous experience and knowledge.

Job responsibilities
The post is ideal for those who have previous experience in cardiology. It is suited to those who wish to develop an interest in interventional cardiology or further specialist interventional training, depending upon prior experience. Previous experience in angiography and/or PCI will be desirable but not essential. MRCP or equivalent will be required, as well as complete GMC registration with a license to practice. Appropriate international candidates with previous cardiology experience and requiring international fellowships before consultancy are encouraged to apply.
Qualifications
- Essential: The applicant must have achieved a primary medical qualification as recognised by the General Medical Council (GMC) and have current Full Registration with the GMC MRCP (or equivalent).
- Desirable: MD, PhD.
Clinical knowledge & skills
- Essential: Minimum of 5 years post-basic medical qualification. Previous experience in coronary angiography or PCI. The applicant must be familiar with and be able to demonstrate an understanding of the major principles of the GMC's Good Medical Practice (2006).
- Desirable: Current ALS certification.
Language & communication skills
- Essential: The applicant must have demonstrable skills in listening, reading, writing and speaking in English that enable effective communication about medical topics with patients and colleagues.
