We're on a mission to give patients and their families greater control of their health through knowledge, choice, convenience and connection. As a Specialist Children's Nurse, you'll play a vital role in delivering safe, high quality, family centred care to paediatric patients receiving treatment at home, in clinics or within community settings. Your expertise will help families feel empowered, confident, and fully supported throughout their treatment journey.
Working 37.5 hours per week including some weekends you will be covering visits in the Hertfordshire and Buckinghamshire regions so being confident on the road is vital.
What you'll be doing:
- Deliver training to patients' families and caregivers to ensure they can safely administer medication
- Complete clinical assessments
- Provide ongoing support via telephone, clinic based reviews and home visits
- Taking blood samples
- Identify and escalate safeguarding concerns appropriately, ensuring full documentation and follow through
- Manage clinical deterioration
- Liaise closely with families to tailor visit schedules based on clinical need and contractual agreements
- Report non compliance, adverse drug events, and clinical concerns
- Maintain accurate clinical notes and ensure all care plans and evaluation forms are completed
Who we're looking for:
- You'll be a caring and confident paediatric clinician with a passion for making a meaningful impact on patients and their families
- RSCN or RN (Child) qualification
- Experience working in a paediatric nursing environment—hospital or community
- Strong clinical skills, including clinical assessment, subcutaneous injections, cannulation and (ideally) phlebotomy
- Understanding of therapies relevant to the service, including knowledge of NHS pathways and paediatric care management
- Excellent communication and relationship building skills—able to put families at ease and explain clinical information clearly
- High attention to detail, strong organisational skills, and a commitment to clinical quality
- A flexible, adaptable approach to changing service demands
- A team oriented mindset with strong patient and customer focus
