An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Ophthalmology Department at the Royal Free London for a Senior Clinical Vitreo Retina Fellow for a period of 12 months.The Royal Free London's ophthalmology department provides a full range of ophthalmology services across six main sites in north London: the Royal Free, Whittington, St Pancras, Barnet, Chase Farm and Edgware Community Hospitals. Alongside the vitreo retina service, our colleagues provide comprehensive subspecialty care, a high-quality eye casualty service, and a growing community-based ophthalmology programme.This is an excellent opportunity to join a dynamic department at a time of expansion and development. Main duties of the job

Senior Clinical Vitreo Retina Fellow – Ophthalmology Department, Royal Free London. Fixed term: 12 months.

Main duties of the job: The post-holder will work within the vitreo retina service, gaining experience in vitreo retinal surgery using the latest techniques, supported by subspecialty clinics across the department's north London sites. The role includes participation in the department's eye casualty service and exposure to community-based ophthalmology, together with the weekly teaching and educational sessions held at the Royal Free.

Person Specification

Qualifications

  • GMC Regitration
  • MRCOphth or Equivalent
  • FRCOphth or equivalent

Experience

  • A minimum of 36 months experience at SHO level and/or ST3+ or equivalent with broad experience in general ophthalmology
  • Can undertake routine phacoemulsification unsupervised (audit of last 100 cataract cases to be submitted)

Desirable

  • Experience in Corneal Surgery
  • Training and education of junior resident doctors and undergraduate/postgraduate students
