Specialist Dietitian Llwynypia

We are seeking to recruit a Specialist Dietitian to join our Weight Management and Type 2 Diabetes service. Our Weight Management and Type 2 Diabetes team is a multidisciplinary service, delivering care across the health board through both in‑person and virtual services. This role offers opportunities for flexible working and some work from home. The service aligns with the All Wales Weight Management Pathway, so travel between health board sites and community venues is essential. The department encourages continuing professional development and offers numerous opportunities for both professional and personal growth. We have 37.5 hours available and will consider flexible working arrangements to support a good work‑life balance.

Main duties of the job:

• Manage a defined caseload using evidence‑based, client‑centred principles (e.g., weight management).
• Assess, plan, evaluate and implement dietetic interventions in specialist outpatient clinics and community care settings, including community visits and education sessions.
• Implement aspects of the treatment plan with autonomy, taking sole responsibility for patient safety during community work.
• Collaborate with other members of the multidisciplinary team.
• Maintain clinical records in accordance with legal requirements and professional standards.
• Develop skills and knowledge through continued personal and professional development.
• Demonstrate personal behaviour congruent with professional status at all times.
• Promote and represent the department and organisation internally and externally, providing colleagues with professional advice and opinions.

Job responsibilities:

Welsh Skills: Desirable: Speaking & listening skills at Level 3 (CEFR B2) or above are considered an advantage, though not essential.

Person specification:

Essential qualifications and knowledge:

• BSc in Nutrition & Dietetics or equivalent dietetic degree/qualification with state registration.
• Knowledge of current reports and publications underpinning this post.
• Aware of current developments in dietetic practice.

Desirable qualifications and skills:

• Behaviour modification training or motivational interviewing training and/or skills.
• Welsh language skills in speaking/listening at Level 3 or above.

Essential experience:

• Postgraduate clinical experience, including this area of specialty.
• Experience of presenting to groups and delivering group education.

Desirable experience:

• Welsh language skills in speaking/listening at Level 3 or above.

Aptitude and abilities – Essential:

• Demonstrate understanding and acknowledgement of motivational principles in change management and gaining the co‑operation of others.
• Computer literate with standard keyboard skills.

Essential circumstances:

• Ability to travel throughout community and UHB sites in a timely manner.
