Quality, Safety & Learning Midwife Leeds

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Womens Service at Leeds Teaching Hospitals as a Quality, Safety and Learning Midwife/Nurse. This role will work within the existing Quality Safety Learning Team who support the Womens Service on governance, quality and patient safety with a specific focus on clinical audit and best practice pathways.

We are looking for a motivated and enthusiastic midwife/nurse who will have knowledge of risk and governance processes, ideally maternity specific, and be a caring and compassionate individual who is focussed on providing safe patient care, following the Leeds Way Values.

What you will bring to the role:

The post holder will show the ability to work autonomously and manage their own workload in a sometimes high pressure environment of shifting priorities. They will work collaboratively within the Quality and Safety team and the wider multidisciplinary team to support the patient safety and quality improvement agenda with a specific focus on clinical audit and effectiveness. The ability to communicate well and maintain positive working relationships with the multidisciplinary team is essential.

They will contribute to creating an organisational patient safety culture that focuses on high quality care standards and prevention of avoidable harm. This will be achieved by using evidence based practice, lessons learned and data to identify incident themes and areas for improvement. The post holder will be responsible for supporting effective governance and risk systems across maternity services.

They will work closely and collaboratively with the quality and safety team leaders and the womens services management team to ensure effective communication systems are in place and to ensure excellent standards of care and compliance with national and local standards. The post holder will be the lead for the clinical effectiveness and have a working knowledge of clinical audit supporting evidence based practice and able to manage and oversee best practice guidance and national audit updates.
