Are you an experienced physiologist ready to lead our cardiac physiology team at one of the UK's most prestigious NHS Trusts?
At Imperial College Healthcare we deliver world‑class healthcare through cutting‑edge research, education, and training.
We are inviting a senior, skilled professional to join our IQIPS accredited echocardiography department at Charing Cross Hospital.
Work at the forefront of cardiac diagnostics, handling a full spectrum of investigations including 3D and strain analysis, paediatric TTE, cardio‑oncology echo, structural heart intervention TOE and more.
You will contribute to our large stress echocardiography programme and physiologist‑led valve clinics.
The workload combines service development/management with clinical practice in our Cardiac Investigation Unit.

Main duties of the job
- Lead the Charing Cross Hospital Cardiac Investigation Unit.
- Perform advanced echocardiographic investigations for adults and children, issue independent diagnostic reports.
- Assess clinical needs, prioritise investigations to ensure timely, effective patient care.
- Supervise, informally teach and train trainees, registrars and other staff to enhance technical and clinical understanding.
- Assist in organising the department's daily workload, maintaining quality standards, supporting service innovation and efficiency.
- Maintain accurate electronic records of imaging, measurements and diagnostic reports, and contribute to audit activities and clinical data analysis.
- Ensure echocardiography equipment is fully functional, safe, and used in accordance with infection control and health and safety standards.

- Qualified cardiac physiologist.
- BSE adult TTE accreditation or equivalent (ASE/EACVI).
- Evidence of continuing professional development, including attendance of local/in‑house management courses.
- Initial application for STP equivalence submitted.

- Higher academic qualification (MSc/MBA/Ph D/doctoral study).
- Formal management qualification.
- Level 3 BSE accreditation in stress echocardiography.
- Registered clinical scientist with the HCPC.
Experience

- Previous leadership of a department/sub‑specialty area of cardiac physiology/echocardiography.
- Line‑management responsibilities for a team of physiologists.
